The M62 331, M62 310 and M62 321 at Zalaszentiván station

The station and some of the neighbouring stations are often crowded with freight trains, especially Szentiván, as the East-West and North-South axes intersect here, one of these trains may proceed to Szombathely. Before the reconstruction the Zalaegerszeg-Zalaszentiván line had block sections to allow for more frequen passenger trains (Zalaegerszeg-Szombathely and Zalaegerszeg-Nagykanizsa just in a few minutes) and to let goods trains fit in even to tight timetables, but they removed the signals during the reconstruction. It happened many times that a freight trains waited in the triangle while passenger trains went in to Zalaegerszeg, but because of made-up safety limitations it is only possible now in one direction, but not the other.
