The V42 527 at Vácrátót

The V42 can start running with the pantographs down using the torque of the spinning main engine. The AC synchronous main engine works on a DC generator which provides current for the traction motors and the mass of the synchronous engine and the shaft and the generator can store enough energy for such a feat.
